Will they open every wall to find the water?
Openings should be targeted to where readings show water ran. Ask to see the moisture map before any drywall is cut.
Do I need a plumber first?
Both are often needed within hours. The plumber repairs the line; extraction and drying are the restoration company's part.
Will the equipment run longer than necessary?
Ask for daily readings and a clear drying goal. Equipment should come out when materials reach it.
How do I keep this from happening next winter?
Disconnect hoses, drain irrigation backflow preventers, insulate exposed pipes, and keep the heat on. A plumber can reroute lines that freeze repeatedly.
